Sydney Strings
Strings
on Sydney was established in 2002 and have performed weekly at
a diverse range of venues all over Sydney, from churches to function
centres, indoors and outdoors.
These include:
Athol Hall, Australia Square, Bathers' Pavillion, Bennelong Apartments,
Four Seasons Hotel, Fort Denison, Guillaume, Jonahs, Lindsay
House, Museum of Contemporary Art, Overseas Passanger Terminal,
Vaucluse House, The Sydney Opera House, The Botanical Gardens
and Luna Park.
Individual
Players
Jeremy Sung
(Violin)
Jeremy began playing the violin when he was 3 years old and has
continued to play for nearly twenty years in numerous ensembles.
He has been a member of the Sydney Youth Orchestra, travelling
with them to Denmark in 2001. In 2003 he joined the SBS Radio
and Television Youth Orchestra and toured with them to Eastern
Europe in 2005. In 2005 and 2006 he was a member of the Australian
Youth Orchestra, playing in the award winning performance of
Tristan & Isolde in Brisbane. He currently teaches violin
to primary school children and has just completed a B.A. (languages)
(honours).
Jessica
Love (Violin)
Jess is currently Head of Strings at Newington College and has
been awarded the Sydney Conservatoriums Bachelor of Music
Studies (Majoring in violin) and Bachelor of Education. She has
been a member of the Australian Youth Orchestra, Sydney Youth
Orchestra and the SBS Youth Orchestra.
Alistair
Sung (Cello)
In 2005, Alistair studied cello intensively in Canberra at the
Australian National University under the tuition of renowned
Australian cellist David Perreira. He is currently studying Arts/Music
at the University of New South Wales. He has been a member of
the Sydney Youth Orchestra, the Performing Arts Unit Symphony
Orchestra and he attended the Australian Youth Orchestras
National Music Camp 2006. He also teaches cello part-time.
Annabel
Pope (Viola)
Annabel graduated in 2004 from Arts (Music major) and is in her
final year of law at the University of Sydney. Annabel has taught
at various Sydney schools and has been a member of the Australian
Youth Orchestra, the Sydney Youth Orchestra and SBS Youth Orchestra.
In 2005, Annabel travelled to Eastern Europe with the SBSYO.
